ABSTRACT

CONTEXTING THE PABLO PICASSO’S CUBISM AND THE SEARCH OF RUDOLF VAN LABAN’S MOVIMENT

With this research objectiveted discussing the inter-relationships, similarities and points of contact existent in the research and aesthetic experiences of Rudolf von Laban and Pablo Picasso, linking them to the historical context experienced by the two artists. To achieve this aim, there was an analysis from data collected on the life, work, the creative process and the historical facts that occurred in the path of each artist. The study is qualitative in nature and based on a survey of literature interdisciplinary approach, as to its creation is sought subsidies theorists in history, in Dancing in the Visual Arts and the Scenery Arts, among others. It was clear that the aesthetic and political events occurring in the late nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century, which occurred many breaks and changes of paradigms, have the background that inspired the work of the two artists, which helped lay the seeds and the foundations of the artistic vanguards. Deduziu that, in addition to having been influenced by the African aesthetic, which went against traditional rules established, the work of Picasso and Laban, was a reflection and a mirror of the ideals and the spirit of his time.
